Policy
The Board requires immunizations in compliance with State law and the Ohio Department of Health for each student unless a parent or guardian files an objection. The Board also requires tuberculosis examinations in compliance with the law.
Students eligible for kindergarten and students new to the District must present written evidence of immunizations or written evidence to indicate that they are receiving required immunizations before the day of entrance. The District immediately enrolls students experiencing homelessness and foster students and assists them in obtaining necessary immunization records. In addition, students entering the seventh grade must present proof of a diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP) immunization. Students failing to complete immunizations within 14 days after entering are not permitted to return to school.
The District requires immunization for admission except in situations of good cause, such as religious convictions. Under the Ohio Revised Code, a neglected child is any child whose parents, guardian, or custodian neglects the child or refuses to provide the proper or necessary education, medical care or treatment, or other care necessary for the child’s health, morals, or well-being.
The District maintains an immunization record for each student, available in writing to a parent or guardian upon request.
