Policy
The District provides students with textbooks and consumable materials without cost. This provision does not apply to extracurricular activities and student enrichment programs that are not a course of instruction.
Fines
The District may assess a fine when a student damages, loses, or takes school property, equipment, or supplies. However, the fine must be reasonable, seeking only to compensate the school for the expense or loss incurred. In addition, the District does not charge fines for the late return of borrowed books or materials from the school libraries.
Collection of Student Fines and Charges
The District establishes regulations for the collection of student fines and charges.
The District does not provide grades and credits to any student, graduate, or anyone requesting on their behalf until the student pays all fines and charges in full, except where required by State law.
The District does not prohibit students from participating in commencement exercises for unpaid fines and charges.
