Policy
The Board encourages students to form healthful eating habits. The Board governs the types of food sold in the schools and the time and place for each food. The Board follows these guidelines:
- The types of food sold in the schools are determined as to their potential to contribute significantly to students' daily nutritional needs and enhance the Comprehensive Wellness Policy.
- The time of day and place for the sale of food to students must be consistent with students' nutrient intake needs and eating patterns and compatible with class schedules for schools within the District. In addition, the District may establish different standards for the types of food sold to staff members.
- Food sales shall not compete with the Universal Meals Program governed by federal law. The District's procedures shall enforce non-competitiveness.
