• GBG: Employee Participation in Political Activities

    Policy

Employees have the same fundamental civic responsibilities and privileges as other citizens. Among these are campaigning for an elective public office and holding an elective or appointive public office.

The terms and conditions under which an employee may continue employment as he/she seeks or holds office is determined by the Board and applicable law. Law and the appropriate negotiated agreements govern the conditions under which District civil service employees may participate in partisan political activities.

Employees are not permitted to use District time, money, facilities, equipment or supplies to campaign nor are they to actively campaign while on duty.
