    Policy

    Vacation Leave

    Non-teaching personnel employed on a twelve-month basis receive vacation leave during the contract year as specified in their individual contracts or as set forth in School District regulations.

    Employee requests to take vacation leave must be in writing consistent with procedures set forth in School District regulations

    Accrued and unused vacation leave may be carried over from year to year and accumulated without limit.

    Holidays

    The school calendar, as adopted by the Board, establishes the schools recess periods and paid holidays.

    Sick Leave

    Regular fulltime employees are eligible for fifteen days of sick leave each year. Sick leave may be used for absence from work due to personal illness, medical appointments, pregnancy, injury, exposure to contagious disease, or due to illness, injury or death in the employee’s immediate family.

    Employees who have exhausted their accrued sick leave shall be entitled to an advancement of five days of sick leave to be charged against sick leave that the employee subsequently accrues.

    Sick leave donations are applied after all entitlement balances are exhausted.

    Personal Leave

    Regular fulltime employees are eligible for three days of personal leave (also known as special privilege leave) each year, prorated in the fiscal year in which they are hired.

    Employee requests for personal leave must be in writing consistent with procedures set forth in School District regulations.

    Personal leave may not be accrued from year to year. Unused personal days will be converted to sick leave at the end of each fiscal year and will then be added to an employee’s balance of accrued and unused sick leave.

    Personal leave days will be applied to any eligible leave of absence after sick and vacation entitlements have been exhausted.

    Jury Duty Leave

    Regular fulltime employees shall be granted paid leave when serving jury duty. Employees serving jury duty may retain any compensation received by a court for jury service.

    Employees receiving a jury duty summons from a court are to promptly notify their supervisor and follow reporting procedures set forth in School District regulations.
