IC: School Calendar and Day
Policy
The Chief Executive Officer prepares the school calendar for the following school year and presents it to the Board for approval each year. The number of hours scheduled for students meets or exceeds the requirements of Ohio law.
The calendar sets forth the days and hours that schools are in session, holidays, vacation periods, in-service training days, teacher orientation days, and days of reports to parents and guardians.
It is the responsibility of the Board to establish the beginning and dismissal times at the various schools. These hours satisfy the time requirements established by Ohio law and State Board of Education regulations.
The administration is authorized to make minor changes in opening and closing times to facilitate transportation scheduling. However, any significant changes in schedules are subject to Board approval.
