Policy
The Board provides instruction in compliance with the law, as appropriate, for students confined to home.
Home instruction teachers are provided for students at the parent or guardian's request only after the Chief Executive Officer or their designee approves such instruction and verifies the need by a licensed physician or psychologist. The District provides home instruction teachers and pays them at the designated hourly rate.
Home instruction teachers must be certificated/licensed teachers. Home instruction teachers may be the student's regular classroom teachers only if the Chief Executive Officer or designee gives permission.
Home instruction teachers provide instruction that aligns to Ohio's Learning Standards under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer or their designee. If the home instruction teacher is not the student's regular classroom teacher, the principal arranges communications among the student's classroom teachers and the home instructor to ensure proper instruction for the student.
The Chief Executive Officer or designee determines the duration and time of any home instruction program based on information received from teachers, parents or guardians, medical personnel, the principal, and, when applicable, the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
